Subj: "BLUE BARK"

I'm a civilian doing some research for a newspaper article. I'm trying to find the ORIGIN of this term, which seems to be used in all branches of the U.S. military to refer to a priority category of transportation. It's transportation for next of kin of deceased personnel, and it's also used to refer to the possessions of the deceased and to their personnel files. I encountered the word through the U.S. Navy. The term is also used in Canada, but not in the U.K., at least not in the Royal Navy.

I've been searching for months for an answer. No one seems to know. Please reply to baudgirl@aol.com. And thank you very much.

Introduction of Guest Speaker for Driver Safety and Drug & Alcohol Abuse Education

Please pass to Director of Safety:

I spent almost 21 years in the Marines. Some of that time, about 11 years worth, involved a collateral duty as a Ground Safety NCO, Safety NCOIC, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing Ground Safety Manager, and lastly, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Ground Safety Officer.

I met and have seen a very dynamic speaker who uses hypnosis to remind willing participants that the mind is like a computer and that it can be programmed.

His name is John M. Novak and he calls Beaufort, SC, his home.

Call me if you need anymore info or if you have a POC for me to deal directly with.

Looking for more information on A bomber "B38" And the" XC99"

Aloha from the 50th state-- While I was attached to the Air Force during the Korean war period, I spent a number of years with the DOD/AEC at Mather AFB, McCellan (?)AFB and Fairfield AFS ( an Atomic Bomb assembly plant). In this function I was exposed to a number of different types of aircraft. Two planes, A bomber "B38" I believe And the" XC99" an unusually large cargo craft. This aircraft had a two story interior configuration when required. The Bomber was an eight engine "push pull" setup, four on each side. The Bomber squadron was stationed at Travis AFB. I was quit familiar with the bomber as I was the engineer assigned to develop a hydrant fueling system for them. The XC99 ( two of them built), were stationed at McCellan AFB and Scott AFB. ferring engines and engine parts between Depots. I have been unable to find any history or final resting place of either of these aircraft. I checked with Castle AFB Museum and Smithsonian's new facility, not enough info from me I guess. Any help you can give me I'd appreciate, I'm a WW II vet and was in the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts as a DOD party.

Research assistance - 612th squadron Big 8 BG - Posted August 31, 2004 -

Hallo anyone out there who can help me with some research I am carrying out on a Veteran of the 612th Bombardment Squadron, 401 BG. My name is Gary Harris and I live in Essex in the UK. I have recently purchased a set of medals which belonged to a T/Sgt John W Heinlan who served as a radio operator/mechanic on a B-17 flying out of Deenethorpe, UK from May 1943 to September 1944.

I am now seeking to find out if there is any information still remaining on either this brave Veteran or any of the crew he flew with. I am particularly looking for any photos of one of his planes - he was shot down twice or combat photos relating to the Squadron.

I have obtained an individual photo of John and a group one of the crew he flew with. But until I can find out the name of the Pilot who flew the actual aircraft, it is abit difficult to track the rest of the crew. If anyone out there can help me in any way please drop me an email. Thank you for taking the time out to read this message. Thank you for your help with this research I am carrying out.

Patrik evading capture in ww2 France Date: Thu, 2 Sep 2004

I own a house in France. The house is called Villa Patrik. The house attached includes an extensive system cave system. I was told by the previous owners that the house was named after an allied airman who evaded capture by hiding in the caves until he was taken to freedom by the Resistance who were active in the region. The house is located near Saumur in the Loire. I would like to be able to verify the story and gather more information. I can be contacted at peter.wigggins@wanadoo.fr I would appreciate any suggestions about how and where I might be able to research this further.

Hello there,

I have a couple of questions regarding the F-16's armament during operation Desert Storm. You see, I'm a model builder and I want to arm my Desert Storm F-16's as realistic as possible. My questions are: Did they allready carry the Aim-120 AMRAAM back then? Or were they just equiped with two/four Aim-9 Sidewinders? Did any of them actually use the AGM-88 HARM? Did any of them carry LBG's (either a 1000 pounder of a 2000 pounder)? I hope you can help me acquire this information, since I've found it extremely hard to find pictures of F-16's during Desert Storm on the Internet. I've also added two nice pictures from our Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16's

kind regards and thanks in advance,

1968 a C-7A Caribou - Vung Tau Army airfield , Viet Nam

In 1968 a C-7A Caribou from Vung Tau Army airfield , Viet Nam, flew with a non functioning ray-diome that was painted cherry red. When the aircraft landed, the flight mechanic would pop out of the top hatch wearing a Santa Clause costume. This aircraft was delivering Christmas mail where ever it went. It went to remote locations that almost no other kind of aircraft could land. and support a large payload. Is there any record of this aircraft? 10th tactical recon wing; biscuit coloured pottery- usaf unit stationed near Fauld in UK

Hello USA, My mother passed on to me a biscuit coloured pottery Wade tankard inscribed on one side with motif of jet surmounted with banner Phantom 11 and underneath a banner with RF4C. on the front (handle to right ) is the insignia of shield surmounted by an eagle incorporating the words 10th tactical recon wing. I think this originated from the usaf unit stationed near Fauld in UK during the second world war. The decoration is carried out in gold as is the lip and handle of the tankard. Can anyone tell me the history behind this,I am led to believe that each pilot had one in the bar of the unit. Could it belong to someone still with us ?

John F. Kennedy At Westover, AFB 1963 - Anyone have Pictures?

In October 1963 while stationed at Westover AFB I had the honor of participating in an honor guard for president Kennedy during his visit to Amherst College. I have letters from my commander noting the event. Is there someone out there who might have taken a photo of that event? Sure would be nice to go with letters for my scrap book. Willing to share these letters with anyone who participated.

Much thanks Robert L. Gibson SSgt Retired/////Hooter@Comporium.net

w.w.2 Hispanic pilots

Hello, My name is Joel Rios, I am currently doing research on Hispanic pilots in W.W.2. I spoke to a woman who's brother-in-law was a W.W.2 pilot by the name of Francisco (Frank) Delgado. I am in the process of writing a book witch deals with Hispanic's involvement in all of America's wars, especially W.W.2.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, Joel Rios////GeorgiR8@aol.com
